Our Mission

Brazilian Waxing in Dublin

The Brazilian wax at Villux has a bit of a reputation, most of it scarier than the reality. Done by an experienced therapist in a calm, private room, it is quick, professional and far less dramatic than the internet would have you believe.

This guide gives you the straight answers: what a Brazilian actually removes, how it differs from a Hollywood and a bikini wax, how much it really hurts, and how to prepare and care for your skin so you stay smooth and bump-free. No awkwardness, just the facts.

What a Brazilian Wax Actually Is

A Brazilian wax removes most of the hair from the bikini area, front to back, usually leaving a neat strip or small triangle at the front if you want it. It is more thorough than a basic bikini wax and is the most popular intimate wax for that reason: smooth, tidy and longer-lasting than shaving.

A good therapist works quickly and methodically, keeps you covered as much as possible, and talks you through it, especially if it is your first time.

We also offer a Body Wax at Villux

Brazilian vs Hollywood vs Bikini

The names cause endless confusion. Here is the simple version:

Wax

What it removes

Bikini Hair outside the underwear line only

Brazilian Most hair front to back, often leaving a strip or triangle Hollywood Absolutely everything, front to back

If you are not sure, tell your therapist how much you want left and they will guide you. You can always go more thorough next time.

Does It Hurt? An Honest Answer

There is some discomfort, especially the first time, but most people find it far more manageable than expected, and quicker too. The sensation is a sharp, brief sting as the wax is removed, over almost as fast as it starts.

It also gets easier. Regular waxing weakens the hair over time, so sessions become quicker and less intense. To keep discomfort down, avoid booking during the few days before your period when skin is more sensitive, and never have caffeine right before.

How to Prepare

A little preparation makes a big difference:

  • Grow the hair out to about the length of a grain of rice, roughly two to three weeks of growth. Too short and the wax cannot grip.

  • Exfoliate gently a day or two before to lift any trapped hairs.

  • Skip the gym, sauna and sunbed on the day.

  • Avoid alcohol and caffeine beforehand, as both can heighten sensitivity.

  • Wear loose clothing to your appointment for comfort afterwards.

Aftercare and Avoiding Ingrown Hairs

The first 24 to 48 hours matter most for keeping skin happy:

  • Avoid heat: hot baths, saunas, steam rooms and intense exercise for a day.

  • Skip tight clothing and synthetic fabrics that trap sweat.

  • Wait a day or two before exfoliating, then exfoliate two to three times a week to prevent ingrown hairs.

  • Keep the area moisturised with a gentle, fragrance-free product.

  • Avoid sunbeds and direct sun on the area for 24 to 48 hours.

How Often and What It Costs

Most people rebook every four to six weeks, as that matches the hair growth cycle and keeps regrowth fine and easy to remove. In Dublin a Brazilian wax typically runs from around €35 to €60 depending on the salon and how thorough you go. Regular clients often find sessions get cheaper in time terms, as there is simply less hair to remove.

Brazilian Wax or Laser?

Waxing is the right choice if you want smooth skin now, you wax occasionally, or you prefer not to commit to a course of treatments. If you are tired of rebooking every month, laser hair removal offers a longer-term path to permanent reduction over a series of sessions. Many people wax for years and only later switch to laser; both are valid

A Brazilian is an appointment where comfort and discretion really matter, so a calm, private, professional studio counts for a lot. Dublin 2 is central and easy to reach for a quick pre-weekend appointment.

Villux Therapy offers Brazilian waxing in a quiet, private basement studio on Mount Street Lower, Dublin 2, with a 4.8 rating from more than 150 reviews, a short walk from Grand Canal Dock and Merrion Square.

Brazilian Waxing FAQs

How long does the hair need to be?
About the length of a grain of rice, roughly two to three weeks of growth. If it is too short the wax cannot grip it properly.

Does a Brazilian wax really hurt?
There is a brief sting, sharpest the first time, but it is quick and gets easier with regular sessions. Most people are surprised it is not as bad as they feared.

How long does it last?
Usually three to six weeks. Regrowth comes in finer and softer than with shaving, and rebooking every four to six weeks keeps it easy.

Can I get waxed on my period?
Yes, though skin is more sensitive around that time. If you can, book for after your period for a more comfortable experience. A tampon is fine to wear.

How do I avoid ingrown hairs?
Exfoliate two to three times a week once the skin has settled, keep the area moisturised, and avoid tight synthetic clothing right after.

Is it hygienic?
Completely, with a professional therapist. They use clean techniques and never double-dip, so each treatment is hygienic and safe.

What is the difference between a Brazilian and a Hollywood?
A Brazilian usually leaves a small strip or triangle at the front, while a Hollywood removes everything. Tell your therapist your preference.
